Uh-oh, I've started thinking about the Powershot A710 IS. Is the 6x optical zoom (vs 4x on the A540) and the Image Stabilisation whistling bell worth the extra RM300?
But it's not really about the money, it's about my personal principles of never buying consumer electronics after it rolls off the marketing spiel, because after the equally-functional-but-less-sexy-offering-of-2-years-ago's prices drop and the company still makes money, chances are the early adopters probably paid good money to subsidise said marketing spiel and stuff like R&D WHICH WE SHOULDN'T HAVE TO PAY FOR. Not if we can help it.
On the other hand, the predecessor of the A710 isn't that much cheaper and the A540 has fewer functions and isn't that much cheaper for its lack of A710 functions. I was ready to get the A540 this week but it looks like I'm going to shop around for a cheaper A710 before I decide. Also, I have recently received a small bundle of cash which would make the extra RM300 less of an issue teehee.
One thing's for sure, this blog will have more pictures soon enough. ;)

i got some stuff downloaded, will post after i shrink em. setting the shutter speed manually is harsh tho, everything ends up black! :P
