It finally came. I pre-ordered (that can't be a real word but more on that later) an Optimus Prime and Bumblebee 2-pack back before October 2007 and after a 4 month delay, it finally reached our stores. The multipack figures are cheaper than the individually boxed or carded ones and since I wanted to keep my separately boxed/carded Optimus & Bumblebee mint-in-box, I ordered the 2-pack for the purpose of opening, playing and display.
The Bumblebee is an impressive mold, looks great in both robot and car mode. Something of a rarity among Transformers toys. The transformation is a little challenging but once you get the hang of it, it's easy peasy. It's got good articulation for a Deluxe-class toy and a storage compartment that holds its gun while in car mode. Something they should've done with Jazz and Ironhide.
The Voyager-sized Optimus Prime (smaller than the larger Leader-sized Optimus I have on display) looks nice and fires two smokestack-missles kinda like Chow Yun-Fatt in a John Woo movie. It's got quite an ugly 'backpack' of kibble (extra robot or vehicle parts that jut out) but otherwise, looks great both in robot and truck mode.
So back to the pre-order thing, I don't know why some stores refer to making a reservation a 'pre-order'. I know it's because stores like to take in orders from customers before they ORDER but to me it's just an order you know? Anyway never mind, it's just a silly word. Like prepaid. Don't get me started on prepaid. Ok, rants end, here are some photos:
