Happy Valentine's Day my lovelies! Hope you're not too emo (if you have reason to be) and celebrating at least with your friends. This Vday I'm posting half a sonnet I wrote some time back. I'd post the other half but this one ends tragically.
And I don't want to sour your day much do I? ;)
She beckons him with bait so sensuous
Beauty he could not taint with his caress.
The rose slit from the stalk of the loveless
Would not recognise the thorn in her flesh.
Night watches him extend from his window
Across to where her secrets are best kept.
His innocence spent and his heart on tow
Dropped his vigil on the couch where she slept.
The last few lines were also pretty cringeworthy, I think I'll have to rewrite that bit some time. Anyway happy valentine's day again!
