Wai Shoong, Hock Chong and I were supposed to meet up to catch an opposition ceramah at SS2. I didn't know Raja Petra (RPK) was going to speak, so I was pleasantly surprised. I had to give hearing him speak a miss last night because I was supposed to have supper plans but I won't speak more about that. Idiots.
We were supposed to go hear Tony Phua speak, the Oxford alumnus turned dotcom tycoon turned politician. The crowd was huge and the location sandwiched between a wall of shoplots and the SS2 pasar malam. I didn't get to meet up with WS or HC but I found a cosy spot to stand. It started to rain a little at first, then it got allot heavier when RPK got on stage. The rain pounded us and umbrellas went up when RPK asked if we wanted to continue. The crowd was undeterred. I stood on the fringes of a neighbouring umbrella but got completely wet anyway. It was freezing but I was caught up in the excitement of the night.
RPK declared "This is not a country, this is a circus!" to a chorus of applause all around. He also spoke in support of PAS and I do believe the predominately chinese crowd were not too nervous with the loose DAP/PAS alliance as they had been before, giving the BN its overwhelming majority in the previous election.

I wish I could've stayed for Fong Po Kuan's talk, I hear she's quite the fiery speaker, but I was drenched and cold and she was on the way from Serdang or something. Maybe tomorrow night I will venture to see who else is speaking.

Whoa that's so cool :)
Next time I'm in town when there's an election, count me in *wink*
Oh yea when it rained hard and all the umbrellas went up, it was like the Spartans under a hail of arrows!
That's 5 years away at least. And you must be ready to moon the police! :D
