For this year.
I didn't buy many books last year and those few that I did, I didn't keep the receipts. Which is a shame because they're tax deductible up to ONE THOUSAND DOLLARS! *Dr Evil Grin* But who can keep a year's worth of receipts up to RM1000? Not me.
So this year I decided (right after filing in my taxes and paying on time) that I'm going to buy books just 2 or 3 times a year under 2 or 3 huge receipts. Yes, I like my eggs in one basket. They're easier to make into omelets that way.
So I took out RM500 and off to the MPH sale I went and bought:
- Star Wars: The Comics Companion by Rider Windham & Daniel Wallace (Dark Horse Books)
- Batman: Hong Kong by Doug Moench & Tony Wong (DC Comics)
- Batman: Tales of the Demon by a few people, it was a compilation (DC Comics)
- Serenity: Those Left Behind (Dark Horse Books)
- Interpreter of Maladies by Jhumpa Lahiri (Flamingo)
- Attila the Hun by John Man (Bantam Books)
- Blind Willow, Sleeping Woman by Haruki Murakami (Vintage)
- The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-time by Mark Haddon (Vintage)
- Run Faster (From the 5K to the Marathon: How to be Your Own Best Coach) by Brad Hudson and Matt Fitzgerald (Broadway)
- Going Postal by Terry Pratchett (Harper Torch)
- The God Delusion by Richard Dawkins (Black Swan)
- A Short History of Nearly Everything by Bill Bryson (Black Swan)
- Rant by Chuck Palahniuk (Anchor Books)
- Gonzo: The Life of Hunter S Thompson (An Oral Biography) by Jann S Wenner & Corey Seymour (Back Bay Books)
- 1421 by Gavin Menzies (William Morrow)
I was pretty much just grabbing books I thought I might like. I had RM100 left and I think I will save that and some more for the next sale or buy books that are not on sale that I have every intention to read. Like Transformers Animated: The Arrival Trade Paperback. And a book about harmonicas.
