Attila the Hun

I'm currently reading Attila the Hun, which is a history novel and I'm finding it more enjoyable than fiction. That sounds kinda weird but I've always been interested in history so that comes as no big surprise.

The Huns were mounted archer nomads just like the Mongols and possibly came from the same general region, separated by time. The author even gives us a little insight on mounted archery and wow, it's harder than I originally thought it was.

I want to move to the Central Asian Steppes and get myself a horse.

I read during lunch but yesterday I had to stop myself when the author details the execution of 2 tribal princes who rebelled against Attila. I couldn't really read it while eating as taking a cursory glance I spotted the words:

Impale

Sharpened stake smeared in lard

Anus

Coincidentally it spells ISA. I think I'll continue when I'm on the bus. :P
