Went to Cherating mid-week last week before the Raya holidays. It's good to finally get a break. The visa madness is behind us, the Cambridge forms for 2010 have been sent and with just a few things to mop up, which I'll do next week, I applied for leave and drove east hoping to get away for 2 days.
We stayed at the Holiday Inn, the 7 of us in a lodge. I slept on the couch because I didn't want to share 2 beds with 3 other guys. We spent the first day travelling, eating cendol and lazing by the beach. It was cloudy and hazy, the sand was soft and we had the entire beach to ourselves. No one else was staying at the Holiday Inn that night. Perfect conditions for an axe murderer if there ever was one.
I took one whole picture before my battery died.
Day two was allot more hectic. We started the day slow, each rising from our slumber at our own pace. I had coffee while everyone watched, at the cafe overlooking the beach because no one else wanted to pay rm10 for a standard cup of coffee. I felt the view was well worth the price of admission, although the coffee was just so-so.
After checking out, we went to Kemaman in Trengganu, which was about 20 minutes drive away. There were two popular spots there, Hai Peng kopitiam and the original home of the stuffed crab. Which sounded like a museum for the delicacy but I assure you it's not. We left Kemaman after lunch to head back to Kuantan for cendol again, a little shopping at the East Coast Mall and dinner at Francis' Western before driving home. I got home at 1230am, got to bed at 130am and got up for work at 745am that very morning.
I am getting too old for this.
